Well, the 30th Brithday has come and gone, and I hardly even thought twice abot leaving my 20's behind! It was a wonderful decade in my life, I graduated college, got engaged, then married, and had 2 precious baby boys, just to name a few. On the otherhand, I am leaving my 20's with a little less fashion sense, even less sleep, a little more babyweight, but with a life MORE wonderful than I could have ever dreamed of! I guess that's why the transition has been so seemless- no complaints about being where I am! Well, maybe about the extra pounds, but such is life after 2 babies! Looking forward to my 30's and a new decade with my precious boys and amazing husband!

My "big boy" started preschool a couple of weeks ago without a hitch! He loves his class and his teachers, and comes home with a smile on his face every time I pick him up! He also yells "MY Mommy" when he sees me followed by a big hug. I am so relishing these years where they love seeing their mom at school...it won't always be that way! There are also a couple of pictures of Drew's little brother enjoying having Mommy all to himself in the car and at lunchtime!

Hemming had a wonderful 1st Birthday! We were in Savannah for my cousin Julie's wedding. The bride and her family were sweet enough to let us celebrate at the house they were renting- it was perfect! Lots of love and attention from family along with Hemming's first taste of cake made for one happy little boy! Drew and Hemming also loved getting to see their "Savannah" cousins!

I know I sound a little dramatic, but it PAINS me that Hemming is already 1! This year has gone by way too fast, and I'm not ready to let go of his "babyhood" just yet! Ironically, Hemming hardly even acts like a baby these days. He's been walking for 6 weeks, he's talking/repeating words, and he even has a little attitude! He's definitely strong-willed and doesn't like to be told "no". I don't know where in the world he gets that little personality? He is still such a good cuddler, and is so cute about giving us "love". He learned how to give "five" this week and just has the funniest little personality! I can't wait to see how it develops over this upcoming year. Hemming has blessed our lives tremendously, it seems too good to be true to have two precious little boys to love! Happy, Happy Birthday to our sweet boy!

Birthday Week!

Hemming's birthday week has begun! Today we celebrated his friend Henry's 1st Birthday. Henry is the little boy of our good friends Cory and Christa, and he was born August 25th, 3 days before Hemming on August 28th. They met in the hospital and Henry will forever be Hemming's first friend. I can't believe that my baby is turning 1, excited to celebrate this week, more pictures to come!

Good News! Drew got into the preschool we've been trying to get him in since we moved to Atlanta- Peachtree Road UMC! He just got in this week off of the waiting list. Bad News- he has to be potty trained by the time school starts in a month! Potty training was not even on my radar until he turned 3 in October. Nothing like an unexpected deadline to get us started! I have gotten GREAT advice from other moms and came up with a plan based on what worked for the majority of the people I talked to. I know now is as good a time as any, so we started yesterday. Here's what we're doing:

- Staying at home for 3 days straight
- No more diaper, Drew is basically running around the house with no bottoms on. Underwear here and there to get him used to wearing them.
-I take him to the bathroom every 20 minutes.
- He gets toys and candy when he goes, and a sticker for his "potty chart".
- When he has accidents he has to help clean them up.
- Pull ups at naptime and bedtime OVER his underwear so he still notices when he has an accident

So far succesful potty attempts are outweighing accidents -whew! He is great at helping me clean up, but not so great at telling me when he needs to go! Still a long way from grasping the concept and cotrolling our bladder, but a lot can change in a month! We shall see!

We're Back!

Well, my last post was over 3 months ago. We have only been home for 3 weekends in the last three months! We have had a great summer, but that pace has just been too much with 2 little ones that need their own beds and a routine! We got back into town 2 weeks ago and it has been so nice to be home. We've definitely missed the comforts of home after being on the go all summer! After getting un-packed, cleaning, and just catching up in general we are back on a good schedule and "back to reality"!

This reality equals 2 sick little boys with ear infections and fevers. Yes, you have heard of many of these episodes if you look at this blog regularly, and TUBES are the next stop for both boys! Hopefully our fall will be a lot "healthier" and less busy. 16 ear infections between the 2 boys in the last 10 months has made life crazy, and just uncomfortable for my sweet little guys. Looking forward to getting them healty, and thankful that our ears are our biggest health concern!

Our sweet cousin, Megan, married her equally sweet husband, Scott, Easter weekend in Savannah. Megan was a gorgeous bride and The Coturier's were wonderful hosts. It was a beautiful wedding and a great time was had by all! Possibly the most entertaining part of the night was Kristie catching the bouquet...enough said! Congratulations Megan and Scott!

Drew has finally become interested in Hemming now that he is sitting up and scooting around. They play really well together, still working on the "gentle" concept with Drew at times but so far so good! I think they are going to be great little buddies!

I haven't posted any pictures in quite a while because my poor babies have been sick since we went to Watercolor in mid-March! They have been better for a week or so, but they each had the stomach bug, colds and coughs, very high fevers and 4 ear infections between them! We got rid of ear infection #2 for both of them last week, so it looks like we're on the road to recovery. Hopefully this warm weather will bring us out of hibernation! A couple pictures below of the best part about having sick little ones- t-shirts, diapers, and lots of cuddling!

We had such a special weekend celebrating Hemming's Baptism and Andy's early birthday dinner. It was great to spend time with both of our families, we are so appreciative of them being here for this important day in Hemming's little life. These are pictures from our trip to Watercolor. There are several of Hemming but only a few token pictures of Drew, #1 because Drew turns his head immediately when he sees me whip out the camera, and #2 because the poor little guy was sick with a fever and throwing up most of the trip. Add that to rain over half the trip and you'll know whay we don't look like we've seen the sun! We did have a great time being with my parents and seeing our good friends and their little ones. It definitely makes me miss the 3 years we lived down there, hopefully we'll be back soon and our next trip will involve more outdoor activities!

Okay, so I am about to be an obnoxious mother (not the first time!). These pictures of Drew and Hemming hugging each other just make me melt! I can't help but smile when I see them together, being STILL and SWEET to each other, it is very rare that Drew will interact with Hemming so patiently! You can see how Hemming just loves Drew, and wants to touch him and hug on him all the time. Drew on the other hand seems to always be on to something more exciting than tolerating his little brother. I feel a twinge of sympathy for Hemming's plight as the Little Brother, knowing he will spend most of his childhood wanting Drew's attention and looking up to him. That sweet baby smiles every time he lays eyes on Drew, he already knows how special his big brother is! I really do thank heaven for these little boys!

We went to Jackson, MS last weekend to see our good freinds, Katy and Clint Farrar. Between us we had 4 boys in 26 months, so there was a lot of testosterone involved in our visit! This was the first time Drew and Hemming had met Baby Baker- they were so excited to see him and his big brother Anderson! 5 1/2 Months!

Hemming has had a very busy month! He started saying "Da-da" (all day long!), has started rolling over, and has found his feet, which means they are usually in his mouth! It has been so sweet to see him blossom this month and learn so many new "tricks"! He is just a precious angel, smiling and talking all the time! I am more in love with him everyday (as ALL parents are with their little ones!) and we are so enjoying his happy and content personality, he is a BLESSING!

Baby Food- Ugggh!

Okay, so I am one of those mom's who does NOT like the baby food stage. In general, I am not a fan of many things "messy" or of things that take a lot of practice. Enter Hemming starting on baby food at the ripe old age of 4 months! He's only in the 25% for weight, so the doctor wanted him to get more calories in his diet. This precious baby can smile through anything, so most of the pictures are of him smiling, but he definitely gags on everything from bananas to pears! I had the total opposite experience with Drew, who gobbled up even the peas and beans! One of the many differences between these 2 boys! Anyway, round #2 of baby food is messier and more time consuming, but those sweet smiles keep coming and make it all worth while!

Looks like the boys are an equal mix of Andy and I- that's a shocker to me! Exactly 0 people have ever said that Drew looks like me, and 2 people have said Hemming looks like me. The other several hundred opinions have all gone to Andy. Had to post this since it's one of the only times I've gotten any credit for passing my genes along!

I've never really thought about the "gift" that new toys are to parents. Okay, so this picture might look decent to most (other than my children not cooperating) but I have done some major editing! If you were to zoom out you would see that my sweater is sticking out an making me look pregnant! Despite this, my mother and sister nominated this to be the Christmas card that my mother would send out to 100 or so people (notice how cute THEY look)! If she were to use the picture, she couldn't crop it like I did and my imaginary pregnancy would have been exposed! I was horrified at the thought of people thinking I was pregnant AGAIN or that I looked like I was still pregnant 4 months later, so I wouldn't let my mother use the picture and no Christmas card was sent! I can't even say I feel bad, because people would have been talking and speculating about ANOTHER baby on the way (and you all know how people, me included, critique Christmas cards)! I do hate that we didn't send out a card, so here is my peace offering- the edited version at least!

I have to say we felt especially blessed this year at Christmas. Having Hemming made everything that much sweeter, and it was so cute to watch Drew enjoying Santa, Christmas trees and lights and loving all of his gifts! It's also wonderful to see the boys with our families- it's amazing that no matter how long it's been since they've seen certain people, they know who loves them! I didn't do a great job of taking pictures, but here are a few "faces" of Christmas (be prepared for some major bed-head!).

12 Weeks

I can't believe that Drew is 2, it has gone by SO fast! He is the sweetest little boy, easy going but not without an opinion! We are just in love with him and this fun age, he is full of surprises! We decided to have a very small and laid back birthday party this year. A big celebration with invitations and more than minimal effort was just not in the cards with a newborn! Most importantly, Drew doesn't know the difference at this age and was more than satisfied to open gifts and eat lots of cake with his best buddy Anderson and sweet friend Grace! Drew loved all of his presents and spent most of the night playing with all of them one at a time. We are looking forward to the "Teriffic Two's", as Boo likes to call them!

Hemming is 4 weeks old tomorrow, and is doing great! He has slept through the night the past 2 nights (8 and 9 hours!!!) and is getting chubbier every day! Drew has been so good, still pretty indifferent towards Hemming but very tolerant of his new little brother. Having 2 has been a much smoother transition than we thought, so much so that we decided to go to Oxford last weekend and brave The Grove with both little ones! We had a great time other than experiencing the Rebels embarassing loss to Vandy, and both boys were well behaved- whew! Below are some pictures from the last few weeks, including Drew holding Hemming's hand- the first sign of affection he's shown towards him, haha!

Drew has not paid much attention to Hemming since we brought him home a week ago today. An occasional pat and the mention of "baby" is pretty much all Drew has offered! Tonight Hemming was in the bouncer on the floor and Drew walked over to him, crouched down, grabbed is toes, and said "piggies!". So funny that "piggies" is all Drew has had to say to Hemming in a week! As you can see, Hemming's "piggies" are quite noticable for a newborn!

Hemming will be one week old tomorrow and we're so glad to have him home! He is a good eater and sleeper and just a joy to have around. Drew has been pretty much un-fased by Hemming's arrival, saying "baby" constantly and giving Hemming lots of "love pats". Baby Hemming was born today, August 28, at 4:40 am. He weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. Hemming is named after Andy's late grandfather, and Arnold is after my family, of course! We feel so blessed for this baby to have such special names from both of our families, and we're very thankful for a healthy baby.

My sweet sister sent me some pictures of Drew from the last couple of weeks, he is getting so big! He has no concept that he will soon be joined by a little brother, but walks around saying "baby" all the time. Clearly he is hearing about the baby on a regular basis! He has moved out of the nursery into his "Big Boy" room, but is still in the crib for now. We thought that might be too much transition all at once! Stolen "Stuff"!

We have had a terrible time these last few weeks keeping up with our things, or rather with other people TAKING our things! Our i-pod was stolen out of my unlocked car at my parents house- oops on our part, Andy's car was broken into (window smashed) and his golf clubs were stolen, and I left my camera in a drawer in the beach house we rented at Watercolor. It was taken by one of the housekeepers within 24 hours- before we could get someone back in there to retrieve it!

Anyway, especially bad timing with the camera since we are having a baby in 2 weeks! I'm guessing there won't be anymore pictures on the blog until the baby comes, we are so excited and will definitley have a camera (borrowing at the very least) to document the new baby and his big brother!

We have been SO bad about going to church this summer! We have been out of town almost every weekend since May, trying to squeeze in as much travel as we can before the new baby comes. Aunt Kristie celebrated her 21st birthday on July 4th. She brought her boyfriend, Cameron, along with 6 other friends up to the mountains to help her celebrate. We were so glad to be included in the festivities, the only thing that was missing was Aunt Rachel!

We spent July 4th in the mountains with my family. We went to a 4th of July carnival that night with all kinds of games and of course, fireworks. Drew had a ball and even won a few "prizes"! He stayed awake for the fireworks and was very excited to watch all of the loud "lights"! Daddy did most of the chasing Drew around since I am not as quick on my feet these days! I did a lot of watching and got the sweet job of cuddling with him when he finaly wore himself out.

My parents just finished their mountain house in Highlands/Cashiers NC. We took Drew up for the first time last weekend and he had a ball. He played a little golf with daddy and grandaddy and loved being out on the lake as you can see in the following post...

Sightseeing in Atlanta

We did a little sightseeing while Drew's cousins, Charlie, Mattie, and Will, were in town. We went to The Georgia Aquarium and The Varsity on their last day. The Aquarium was awesome, all of the kids loved it. Dinner at The Varsity was great too, everyone loved their famous chili dogs and frosted oranges! Drew was very sad to see his cousins go, he has been "under-stimmulated" to say the least since they left!

Memorial Day

We had our niece, Mattie, and our nephews, Charlie and Will, in town for Memorial Day. Uncle Andy took the kids to the Braves game that afternoon (by himself!) and then came home for a game of kickball in the backyard. Drew watched and cheered extra hard for everybody, but especially for Daddy! Andy cooked out hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone after all of the days activities, definitely making him a contender for Uncle of the Year!

We spent last weekend in Jackson with our sweet friends, The Farrar's. Katy and I took Drew and Anderson to the lake to see their friends Max Hutchinson and Sydney and Josh Scruggs. As you can see, they had the best time playing together! If you're wondering why there are no daddies in these pictures it's because they're on the golf course, surprise, surprise! Mommies and babies had a great time and plan to let the dads pay us back very soon!

Trip to Snip-its!

Drew had his hair cut last week at "Snip-its", a hair salon for kids. I was tired of constantly brushing his hair throughout the day just to keep it "tame", so it was a much needed visit! He was a little apprehensive at first, but was quickly distracted by animal crackers and cartoons. I highly reccomend trying it out if you have a little one in need of a trim! We left with a full tummy and a bag of cute little red curls!
